CBSE Introduces Mandatory 3rd Language Policy for Classes 9-10 Starting July 2026
The central board of Secondary education (CBSE ) has made it mandatory for students in class 9 nd 10 to study three languages, effectively from July 1 , 2026 . There will be no board examinations for 3rd language (designated as R3) at the class 10th level In a circular issue on May 15, the CBSE stated that this step has been taken "To keep the focus on learning and to Alleviate any form of unnecessary pressure on students" Rules for Choosing 3rd Language Schools may select a third language from the CBSE approved list ;There is one condition :The three languages studied by the students atleast two languages must be Indian . Schools are required to update there Language chooses on the OASIS portal by June 30,2026 How will The Threed Language Be Assessed ?
